What’s So Good About Natural Organic Make Up?

Posted by: Susan Wilson - Natural Organic Makeup  :  Category: natural cosmetics, natural skincare, organic beauty, organic cosmetics, organic make up, organic skincare

Natural Organic Makeup BeautyIt’s the fastest growing trend in the skincare and cosmetics industry - natural, organic makeup.

Next time you’re in a department store, take a look for yourself. As you walk the aisles, start to count the number of products and brands promoting natural, organic, biodynamic, mineral-based, plant-based and petrochemical-free skincare and make-up products.

Just a few short years ago, many of these products didn’t exist!

In fact, just last year, the Natural and Organic Makeup industry in the United States grew to a $350 million dollar industry - up $68 million two years earlier - a 24% increase.

So to say that Natural Organic Makeup sells well is an understatement.

But is Natural Organic Makeup Really Effective?

Critics of Natural Organic Makeup point to the low-allergenic, low-irritant, plant-and-mineral derived formulas and ingredients in many cosmetic products and raise a good point.

If these products are so gentle, how can they possibly be effective?

After all, reading the ingredients listed on many of these products, some of the skincare products sound like a recipe for porridge or some other kind of sweet paste that you could just as easily spoon into your mouth as you could rub into your skin!

“Enriched with Natural Honey, Oat Extracts and Vanilla Essences”? - It sounds delicious!

And to be honest, the critics of natural organic makeup have a point!

Many of the formulations used are truly too gentle to be truly effective - the nutrients that they prescribe will help you to improve your complection and soften your appearance will often feed the parasites that live on your skin much more than feeding your skin cells themselves!

And many of the mineral makeups that claim to be able to be absorbed by the skin - the particles inside the make up (although tiny) are still too large to be absorbed by your skin.

So it’s important to avoid the hype and sales pitches that many of the skincare and cosmetic houses are so good at delivering, and look at the products based on their individual merits.

Yes, it’s good to avoid harsh petrochemicals - make ups that are MADE from crude oil - the same chemicals that you pump into your car to make it run. Some of these carcinogenic nasties have been proven to cause cancers in the human body - and let’s face it, a good make-up is something that you would want to use every day!

(That’s a lot of damage to your fragile skin!)

But don’t discount natural organic makeup and skincare products quite yet!

There are some fantastic, highly effective, natural, organic, skin-safe products around!

You just need to know where to look ;)

What are some cheap ways to go green?

Posted by: Susan Wilson - Natural Organic Makeup  :  Category: organic cosmetics

It seems like everything you can do to be a more environmentally-friendly person is expensive: organic food, special cosmetics, gasoline from corn that you have to fix your vehicle to even be able to use. I'm a teenager with no job (yet), and my mom is a teacher, which is obviously not a whole lot of money. I can unplug my computer when I'm not using it, turn off the lights when I leave a room, and take shorter showers. What else can I do to lessen my carbon footprint?

I have a HUUUUGE list for free available at www agua-luna com it's like 33 pages long & would just spam this whole answer. But here's a few cut from the list below. If you'd like the entire list feel free to visit www agua-luna com or email me through the site directly & I’ll send you a free copy.

Also Agua-Luna com now offers Carbon Offsetting Credits, since our Team of Volunteers is already accomplishing several carbon eliminating projects, we’re now converting the carbon offsets to you. Visit www agua-luna com for a FREE carbon calculator to calculate your carbon footprint for free & more info on carbon credits.

You could also Volunteer with us, planting a tree or working on a Sustainable Renewable Energy Building Project in Mexico OR The Amazon. Again see www agua-luna com for more info.

If you can’t join us here are some ways you can at least contribute from home..

Recycle paper, cardboard, newsprint & magazines.
Recycle aluminum cans.
Recycle all batteries.
Recycle & reuse. Roughly 50% of the average person's trash can be recycled. Don't forget that hazardous waste like batteries, your printer's ink cartridges, & cell phones can be recycled too! Find out how & where to recycle in your area. Always buy recycled paper. Just 1 ton of recycled paper saves 17 trees.
Just because your community doesn't pick up all recyclables on the curb, it doesn't mean there are not viable alternatives nearby. Check with dry cleaners, supermarkets, manufacturers, your local public works department & civic organizations to find out where recycled goods can be dropped off, at a location near you.
Did you know that just in 1995 alone, recycled toner cartridges kept over 21,000 tons of trash out of landfills? Believe it or not, now you can recycle your printer's toner cartridges! Every year, Americans throw out enough printer cartridges to stretch from Los Angeles to New York City & back again. Toner cartridges can be recycled, having just as good a performance as an unrecycled cartridge. To recycle your toner cartridges, find a local business that does printer cartridge recycling, or contact the manufacturer of your current toner cartridge & ask about a cartridge recycling program.
Not only should you recycle, but buy products that are recycled. By purchasing these products, you are helping to conserve natural resources, & to protect the environment.
Wash clothes in cold water.
Hot water is unnecessary for most clothes. When needed, use warm water.
Fill your toilet tank.
Put a plastic bottle or two, filled with water & rocks, in your tank to reduce the amount of water used in each flush.
Clean your filters.
Clean the filters of your air-conditioners once a month to improve energy efficiency. While you’re at it, change your car’s filters as recommended in your manual.
Get a low-flow shower head.
Stop at the hardware store on your way home, & get a low-flow shower head. Takes a few minutes to install, & it’ll save gallons of water a day.
Lower your thermostats.
If you use heating, get by with less heat & wear warmer clothes. If you use air-conditioning, get by with less cooling & wear cooler clothes.
If it’s a nice sunny day, hanging clothes only takes a few minutes, & you’re using solar power instead of electricity to do the job. It also makes your clothes last longer.
Turn down your water heater.
Most people have their water heater’s thermostat turned up too high, wasting energy. Turn it down to 130 degrees, saving energy but still hot enough to kill bacteria.
Use CFC light bulbs.

Hope this helped, feel free to contact me personally if you have any questions if you’d like assistance in making your first self sufficient steps, I’m willing to walk you step by step threw the process. I’ve written several how-to DIY guides available at www agua-luna com on the subject. I also offer online & on-site workshops, seminars & internships to help others help the environment.

From a Nurse: Using Coconut Oil as a Treatment for Eczema

Posted by: Susan Wilson - Natural Organic Makeup  :  Category: organic cosmetics

Sometimes one has to resort to alternative, natural eczema treatment methods to get the best cure or results for their eczema problem. And often it’s a better choice, due to less exposure to drugs and chemical-laden products.

It should always be the first treatment to consider when you want to take the best care of your skin.

First of all, eczema and dermatitis are often referring to the same thing in the medical world. They cover a variety of inflammations of the most outer portion of the skin. There are three different, broad types of eczema.

The type of eczema depends on the cause and where it occurs on the body. The types are basically, allergies, rashes, and nutritional deficiencies. The eczemas include atopic, dyshidrotic and nummular eczema.

Naturally you’ll want to eliminate any internal cause of eczema as in non-contact allergies, rashes, and nutritional deficiencies.

For local causes of eczema such as contact dermatitis, you want to avoid having your skin come into contact with the offending item.

It could be jewelry, perfumes, chemicals in any cosmetics, shellac in mascara, lipstick, nickel, lotions, soaps, fabric softener sheets, pesticides from contact around the mouth, latex gloves, etc.

I’m assuming here that you already have a diagnosis of eczema.

The best thing I’ve found to heal eczema is extra virgin coconut oil. It works better than eczema creams, which are usually chemical-laden products, whether for babies, teens or adults.

Make sure you’re working on eliminating the cause of your eczema, whether internal or external, which we won’t go into here.

Extra virgin coconut oil has helped many I know to help heal the skin. Ultimately, of course, the immune system and body do the healing if you were to do nothing, but coconut oil can speed up the process.

If you also have acne it’ll treat acne too and is better than most chemical acne products.

You want to make sure you get the extra virgin type that is not refined, bleached or deodorized. You can order it online.

Whole food-type markets are carrying more coconut oil, in pint and quart jars and especially the extra virgin coconut oil. Get the organic kind if you can.

Coconut oil cures many other skin conditions and skin disorders too, besides making the skin soft and smooth. I use it for everything including as a make-up remover and under my foundation. My skin is always soft, silky, smooth, and free of rashes, bumps, blemishes, blisters, etc.

It stops itching and flaking too.

Coconut oil is very inexpensive therefore, a good, cheap home remedy. Keep it around to treat any other skin problem. It’s actually healthy to eat too. It’s a plant saturated fat, not an animal saturated fat.

I add two big tablespoons to my smoothies, to help my skin from the inside out too, and have been doing so for many years.

Although we refer to it as coconut oil, it isn’t actually oil until the temperature climbs above 77 degrees. It can be applied when it is in the oil-state or non-oil state.

To apply the extra virgin coconut oil, massage it deep into the affected area. You can heat it if you like but you don’t have to. Depending on how severe the eczema is, apply it three or four times a day or more and especially at bedtime.

It’s important to keep the area moist with the oil. You may have to apply a loose bandage to your skin, soaked with the oil. If the eczema is on your hands, you’ll have to apply it even more often.

Also you can expose the area to direct sunlight for 20 minutes or so each day. You’ll get your daily dose of vitamin D that way too.

Many have used coconut oil as a treatment to cure or heal their eczema or their baby’s eczema.

It just takes motivation, a willingness to try it, and diligent application of coconut oil several times each day and at bedtime.

And your eczema and its symptoms, providing you’ve removed the cause, should go away. Continue using coconut oil and good clear skin will be your reward.

Cleansing for Weight Loss

Posted by: Susan Wilson - Natural Organic Makeup  :  Category: organic cosmetics

According to the Center for Disease Control, an estimated 66 percent of U.S. adults are overweight. 32 percent are obese. A new study by researchers at RTI International and the Centers for Disease Control estimates that U.S. obesity-attributable medical expenditures reached $75 billion in 2003 and that taxpayers finance about half of these costs through Medicare and Medicaid. Some estimates claim that obesity contributes to over 300,000 deaths per year in the U.S. and has surpassed smoking as the #1 killer.

75 million people go on a diet every year. The weight loss industry rakes in over $109 million every day. Despite the incredible monetary gains of the weight loss industry, people are getting sicker and more overweight with over 60 diseases being related to obesity.

Why is this happening? Two Reasons:

Reason number one:
There are chemicals from food, preservatives, pesticides, fertilizers. We consume over 700 chemicals in our water. We deal with 700,000 tons of pollution in the air. We have chemicals from cosmetics and cleaning fluids. Animals are injected with hormones, steroids and antibiotics. These toxins we ingest every day are stored in the fat cells in your body.

Reason number two:
Most diets that promote rapid weight loss use harsh diuretics which rob the body of important nutrients and minerals (especially potassium, magnesium, calcium) which can dangerously upset your electrolyte balance - causing dehydration and often depression.
They also use harmful stimulants - like MaHuang, Ephedra or Caffeine which speed up your metabolism in an unhealthy way - increasing your blood pressure and heart rate. Diets for weight loss typically attempt to cause imbalances in carbohydrate, fat and protein rations. Perhaps for this reason alone, diets are not sustainable and dieters nearly always yo-yo their weight over time causing progressive increases in percentage of body fat. This composition change is a result of losing lean muscle mass during the diet phase and adding extra fat as the weight is put back on over time.

So the question is, how do you cleanse your body of the toxins and lose unwanted fat without robbing your body of muscle mass, calcium, and nutrients that are required to maintain optimal health?

First, realize that there is no miracle pill that will save you. Also realize that these fasting diets are only going to cause a yo-yo affect because you are robbing your body of nutrients. Exercise is extremely important, but it must be combined with the proper eating habits.

You need a plan. That plan must include the following:
1) A cleansing formula with superior-quality aloe, cleansing herbal teas, lipotropic nutrients, and ionic trace minerals that can help your body to naturally release harmful impurities that slow down your metabolism. Lose the toxins that are stored in the fat cells and you help your body shed the fat.
2) Meals that include a blend of organic whey protein, vitamins, active enzymes, and minerals that are low in calories and high in fiber. This will maximize your fat burning while safely reducing your caloric intake.

You must do this WITHOUT STIMULANTS. Stimulants are harmful and you don’t want to create the yo-yo affect that will cause you to gain the weight right back.

Combining this with proper exercise will cause the weight to come off, and more importantly, stay off. This combination has not only helped people who are obese quickly lose an incredible amount of pounds quickly and safely, it has also helped with that very stubborn 5 to 10 pounds of fat that just won’t go away.
